The Swedish band BADGE sounds like a sequence in a bad horror movie when a roadhouse band of zombie junkie punks play their music behind a bar brawl where the participants end up eating each others’ limbs. They are definitely for real, though.
Firmly rooted in a blues tradition, but with the power and attitude that surpasses just about any metal band that you could think of, they never fail to surprise.
Badge consists of three musicians from different backgrounds:
Guitarist Matti Norlin, the winner of the blues national award in Sweden 2012, is one of the most interesting interpreter of the early blues. Matti has released four solo albums; Pre War Blues (1995), Kitchen Sink Blues (1998), Slidin' Out (2002) and LIVE> Blues 3 Trappor Upp (2010).
Versatile drummer Fredrik Haake was based in New York for a period, where he played drums in several acts, including God Is My Co-Pilot , The Vanity Set (With Jim Sclavunosand from Nick Caves Bad Seeds), Meldrum and Sideburn.
Gustaf is mainly known for his stint as a bass player in metal band extraordinaire Meshuggah 1995-2003, but has also been in Pain of Salvation, Swedish punk band Charta77, apart from playing with fusionesque Frank Zappa-favorites Mats & Morgan.
