Inspired by Australian seminal acts such as Crime & the City Solution, The Birthday Party, These Immortal Souls, The Scientists and acts like The Doors and The Cramps, Bain Wolfkind was formed in 2004 in a no-man’s land between Sydney Australia, Dublin, New York and Vienna, after the collapse of Bain Wolfkind’s earlier project, Novo Homo. Bain Wolfkind is primarily a solo project but includes Kriss Hades, from Naxzul and Sadistic Execution, and Nicholas Strike, from Frankie Machine, on guitars. The music is steeped in noir-Americana, dripping in sleaze, inhabited by low-lifers, pimps, whores, mobmen and killers. Wolfkind's sand and sawdust vocal recalls Tom Waits and Jim Foetus, while the music touches upon the aforementioned along with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Leather Nun and The Gun Club. It conjures up visions of dark alleyways, night-time streets populated with hazy neon bar room signs and strip joints.
