“Working on Ugly Truths/Beautiful Lies was a journey we took our time with,” Cliterati vocalist Ami Lawless tells Decibel. “We wanted to up our game as far as sound and delivery.” And so they did: The Grammy Greg Wilkinson helmed/Joel Grind mastered full-length is an immaculately conceived/executed, enlivening, searing crusty punk hardcore rager that will no doubt resonate in a major way with fans of Born Against, early Sick of it All, and His Hero is Gone. Thematically, the Portland, Oregon quartet sure isn’t pulling any punches, either…as virtually every song title on our exclusive full stream of the record below will attest. “The lyrics are all personal to me and so far people seem to get it,” Lawless says. “It’s always been a trip for me to share what goes on inside my head with the world, can be cathartic…like low cost therapy.”
