It's not only NWOBHM or US-Metal that have produced real rarities that gnawed at the wallet, but also German acts, who in the first half of the eighties tried their luck not with demo cassette(s), but with a self-produced record. The DEATH WARRANT EP, which is often dubbed "Ecstasy", is one of the rarest and most exciting rarities that German Heavy Metal has produced.

The core of the band from Baden-Württemberg was formed in the seventies and after a few line-up changes finally called themselves Death Warrant. The first demo recordings were made in 1980/1981 and could be saved and reworked for these re-releases. The proof that Death Warrant were one of the very early bands in German Metal is irrefutable.

The landlord of a local pub then financed the highly motivated band's vinyl EP, famous in collector circles, which was recorded in the Antoni Records studio. The logo of this company can be seen on the record, but it is still a self-pressing. Four songs were recorded (still 1984) that capture the zeitgeist of the early years of German metal. The fact that the musicians already had experience can be heard in the tracks, because despite the rough shell there is no "rumble". Unfortunately, some members didn't want to take the next step and the band broke up.

An unreleased EP was overdubbed and cleaned by Patrick Engel, then the material, including the early demo recordings, was restored and remastered by Neudi. The booklet or LP inlay features an extensive interview with singer Wolfgang Marquart, who is now a piano teacher.

Thanks to this re-release, this piece of German metal history can now find its way into your living room, without the need for a small loan for the purchase.
