Döda Havet are back with their sophomore album “Tid och rum”, released via Gaphals Records. A record full of synthesizers, heavy guitars and intricate melodies on piano. The world is a vast and dead sea, but if you put your head below the surface and listen carefully, you might pick up something which resonates at the same frequency as your own inner self.
Döda Havet convey their depiction of the reality we know mixed with their own experiences, on a framework of melancholy rock, which sometimes diverges into progressive parts. What initially started as a studio project soon developed into a fully-fledged band in 2015. It consists of Peter (guitar), Julia (keyboard), Martin (drums), Lawrence (bass guitar) and Staffan (vocals/guitar/songwriter), who have all featured or are still featuring in different constellations on the music scenes in Uppsala and Sweden. Some of those are Besvärjelsen, Lastkaj 14 and F.K.Ü.
After the acclaimed, eponymous debut record and a handful of live gigs the band have stayed away from the stages and instead fully indulged in the creative process with the goal to make a strong sequel, which will take you on a journey through several stages of emotion. Döda Havet want you to bring something back with you when you return to the surface, something which actually means something to you.
“The Swedish five-piece list King Crimson, Camel, Frank Zappa and Gösta Berglings Saga among their favourite artists, and they’ve filled their second full-length album with everything from soft piano melodies, heavy guitars, synthesisers, slow tempo vocals and mysterious lyrics that take the listener on a journey through different emotions.” - Prog Magazine
