3/4 of Muskegon, MI's DROP HAMMER had previously played together in Steel Vengeance, on the band's third album, Prisoners, from 1987. Within a year of forming, DROP HAMMER had issued the six-song demo, Stimulation of Your Nerves, in 1989; but the group's first proper outing was a two-song 7" single released by Minneapolis label Red Decibel the following year. The group had quickly established an interesting fusion of thrash-leaning traditional heavy metal with an exceptional sense of melody and atypical chord phrasings, which peaked on their lone full-length, the criminally underrated Mind and Body. Recorded at Fast Trax in Jenison, MI with producer Scott Carver (Thought Industry, etc.), Mind and Body was released toward the end of 1991 by Red Decibel in cooperation with Metal Blade. However, due to the changing landscape of aggressive music during the early-'90s, DROP HAMMER soon found themselves without a label. A few more songs were demoed at Gark Studio in Minneapolis, but by the end of 1993, the lineup had started drifting apart into separate projects. Over three decades later, Divebomb Records is thrilled to shed new light on the music of DROP HAMMER. Fully remastered by Jamie King Audio, this hand-numbered deluxe edition CD will include the 10-song Mind and Body album plus nine bonus tracks from assorted demo and 7" sessions—some never before released! Not to mention a 16-page booklet packed with lyrics, photos, vintage interview, press clippings, etc. For the fans, by the fans!
