The debut album “Memories” from MICHAEL JESSEN is finally ready!
He picked up the guitar by the age of 15 and a childhood friend taught him how to play a few simple riffs.
After writing songs and playing with other international and domestic bands and artists since 1998, the "Memories" album became a reality when Michael teamed up with legendary Swedish rock singer Goran Edman in 2012 to record an EP.
Michael’s former band members from his very first band in 1998, Christoffer Hoaas and Mads Grunnet, completed the band playing bass and drums.
The 4-track EP got a lot of interest and MICHAEL JESSEN signed a deal with Massacre Records in 2013 for a full album including the songs that were featured on the EP. Michael then wrote the rest of the album, recorded all the basic tracks and sent them to Göran in Sweden, where he recorded all the vocals. Then everything was all brought to CB Studios in Denmark, where all the guitars, drums and bass tracks were recorded and mixed.
When the recordings had already started, Europe’s guitarist John Norum joined the band for a guest appearance on the track "Blackwater". Norum had heard the EP and liked the music.
Norum also worked with Goran Edman in the late 1980’s on his solo album, and on several tours. "Memories" is a mixture of loud guitars and some very melodic songs, blending into mainstream, but distinct and recognizable, classic hard rock.
It’s the first album from a new generation of artists who grew up and listened to the rock heroes of the late 70’s and 80’s.
The sound is a modern version of loud Gibson guitars and the wall of Marshall amps.
