DESCRIPTION

The New Wave of British Heavy Metal era is considered one of the most controversial movements in the whole history of metal. While it unquestionably gave birth to some legendary bands and epic albums, most of the groups from that time just weren’t worth the attention – acts meaninglessly copying one standard songwriting idea after another were a daily routine back then. But among mediocre wannabes, geniuses could be spotted as well. One of the most influential formations which emerged in the beginnings of the N.W.O.B.H.M. madness was TANK – a fierce, ambitious young band, taking all the best that was in punk and metal to a higher level. In 2002 Tank released their latest album, entitled “Still at War”, which was a truly memorable comeback for the band. Produced by Algy Ward himself, the album featured a set of classic, powerful tracks, which instantly won the hearts of die-hard fans, who often compared it to the band’s best effort to date, “This Means War”. Members of Tank themselves seem to be satisfied with this record as well. Algy comments on his work as follows: “I think I would have to say a very loud experience - a Tank album basically! No long songs, keyboard intros or the like, just a back to basics Tank album. The material has been written since 1988, so it’s been a long time gestating.” Asked about the highlights of the new release, Algy answered: “The title track, ‘Conspiracy of Hate’, ‘Return of the Filth Hounds’ and some of the slower songs like ‘The Blood Still on Their Hands’ and ‘In the Last Hours Before Dawn’. They’ve all got a different slant on the whole war thing. I research the subject fully, it’s a long process.” Musically, the album was indeed a comeback to the roots of N.W.O.B.H.M. and remains one of these unique records which, although recorded in contemporary times, still have that characteristic feeling of the 80’s metal scene. As Cliff Evans sums it up: “As we recorded 'Still at War' we knew we had an album that captured the raw power that is the Tank sound. No frills, no tricks, just guitars into amps cranked up to ear bursting volume. This was our first studio album since 1987 and it was clear we had still retained our trademark razor edge.” “Still at War” remains the last, but also one the greatest albums Tank has ever recorded. With new material still in the process of making, there’s not much else to do except crank up the volume and scream from the top of your lungs: HAMMER ON! New digipak edition includes 2 bonus tracks and is limited to 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc.
