The long-awaited debut album from Karin My was written and recorded over several years in parallel with her work as a vocalist, both live and in the studio. Prominent collaborators include, among others, Twice a man, Carbon based lifeforms, Fake Moss, Coph Nia, Sync24, Peter Aries and Concrete Society. The last couple of years have seen a number of single releases by Karin My as a solo artist, accompanied by a string of experimental videos. She also created a number of “audio sculptures” for outdoor art installations during 2019-2020.
The release of Silence Amygdala was finally decided for early 2021, fresh of the release of the triple A-side “Winter Tree”, which included remixes of previous singles by Not Lars and Carbon Based Lifeforms. The title track was noticed by music journalist Fredrik Strage, who had nothing but nice things to say about it on national television.
Silence Amygdala is a semi-concept album - a collection of dark fairy tales from the absolute edge of sanity - but simultaneously also a surprisingly accessible pop album. A sound permeated with originality - airy and eerie at the same time - on top of which Karin's subdued voice hovers, using silence as a tool to pierce through the noise.
