Leather Leone needs no introduction. She has forged her unique place in metal history a long time ago and considered one of the preeminent female heavy metal vocalist of the late 80s. After being scouted by Mike Varney (President of Shrapnel records), Leather emerged in the early 1980s as a pioneer of the power metal vocals with the band Chastain, releasing five celebrated metal records, “Mystery of Illusion” (1985), Ruler of the Wasteland” (1986), “The 7th of Never” (1987), “The Voice of the Cult” (1988), “For Those Who Dare” (1990) and a solo album “Shock Waves” (1991), produced by D.T. Chastain with tracks written in collaboration with Chastain himself, Manilla Road’s Mark Shelton and Pat O’ Brien, later in Nevermore and Cannibal Corpse. Leather re-emerged again in the 2000s to release two critically Chastain acclaimed albums, “Surrender to No One” (2013) and “We Bleed Metal” (2015) and two solo-albums “II” (2018) and “We are the Chosen” (2022). She received rave reviews from magazines worldwide and is still mentioned as one of the most powerful voices in female metaldom. Originally released in 1989 (Roadrunner), “Shock Waves” featured John Luc He'bert on drums (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Chastain), Michael Harris on guitars (Arch Rival, solo career) and David Harbour on bass (King Diamond, Chastain) and was born for the reason of letting Leather show her immense talents and to be alone in the spotlight for all to see. In the band Chastain there was always David to share the attention. The Cd received massive praise but was never really properly promoted as the true musical masterpiece that it was.
