Lisa Wilhelm's upcoming album SO CLOSE, released by BERTHOLD records on May 9th, 2025, marks an exciting evolution in her musical journey. 

Combining lyrical jazz with dreamy pop elements, Wilhelm's new compositions take listeners on a deeply personal journey through her experiences, travels, and literary inspirations. The album features an extraordinary lineup, including Lukas Wögler (saxophone), Moritz Langmaier (piano), Franz Blumenthal (bass), as well as vocal contributions from Mareike Riegert, Nate Dailey, and Nico-Alexander Wilhelm, alongside a string quartet. 

Wilhelm's compositions explore emotions, inner struggles, and the stories that shaped her life. ‘Change the Game,’ written for her brother, is a poignant reflection on pressure and success, while ‘Four Voices’ tackles the inner turmoil faced by many young women. The album's instrumental tracks, like Dreaming of Okapis and Mercy for a Dog, are inspired by powerful literary figures and stories, blending unexpected sources with creative sound exploration. 

With more structured compositions than her previous, improvisation-focused album POTPOURRI, SO CLOSE showcases Wilhelm's growth as both composer and drummer. This album brings an emotional depth and rich layering, combining jazz, pop, and folk influences, and promises to elevate Wilhelm's already distinguished musical career to new heights.
