Oceans Of Sadness from De Kempen, Belgium, started out in 1995 and drew inspiration from bands such as Type O Negative, Amorphis and Paradise Lost. In 2001 the band signed a deal with Belgian LSP Records, followed by the release of ‘For We Are’ (2001) and ‘Laughing Tears, Crying Smile’ (2002). In support of their second album the band opened up for Within Temptation and Dimmu Borgir. Over the years Oceans Of Sadness has found a larger audience by performing at festivals such as Dynamo Open Air and Biebob Metalfest as well as numerous shows at Graspop Metal Meeting. In 2004 their third album, ‘Send In The Clowns’ was released on Apache Productions and at the beginning of 2007 the band signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of the new album ‘Mirror Palace’, produced and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia) and mixed by Thomas Eberger (Opeth, 69 Eyes, The Hives). Clearly influenced by acts such as Pain Of Salvation, Dream Theater, Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth, Oceans Of Sadness also draws inspiration from the non-metal world. ‘Mirror Palace’ is a shining example that metal is still progressing and can be fused with classical music, jazz or even good ol' ragtime.
