THE SONGS THAT INSPIRED THE MAN.
By far the finest musician within the Beatles, Paul McCartney also had the most eclectic taste in music. Understandably and rightly so, he loved Rock & Roll and its early British counterpart Skiffle - the music of his youth - just as much as the others. But McCartney also had a huge knowledge and passion for the songs of the great American composers from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s and delighted too in RnB, Country, Jazz, Classical plus the compositions of Brian Wilson, the poetry of the Beat Generation, and in time, the then emerging avant-garde, which his song-writing partner was still insisting was ‘French for bullshit’.
