The diverse duo that is DEAD KITTENS finally have their follow-up long player coming up!

Sound, lyrics and songwriting are still challenging, extraordinary and unique. Simply different – and fun! Yet the band has grown and matured in all parts involved. Darkish-witty and intelligent lyrics meet catchy hooks. An album, that is more straight forward than the debut while not losing its distinct Dead Kittens-Sound and attitude.

An israeli and a dutchman meet somewhere in Berlin and decide to start a band. What started out sounding like the beginning of a lame joke – or maybe the start of another Berlin hipster career in the 90s – is more and more becoming one of the most exciting music projects of Germany's diverse music mecca.

The duo's first album 'Pet Obituaries' was still more of a „song-by-song-speed dating“ where songs were less carefully constructed but more so a spontaneous combining of ideas by two very different types of artists and musicians. An exciting and eclectic mix of styles and no overall concept each song had to fit in. But in some songs you could already hear the slight pop-appeal promising what was to come.

Now after countless shows the two, Dirk Verschure (vocals, bass) and Oded 'KD' Kaydar (drums, backing), have grown together even more and have been refining their very own sound along the way. Melodic Noiserock? Avantgarde Core? Postpunk minus the retro-vibe? Maybe a bit of all of the former – eventually creating a contemporary and unique style without really belonging to just one specific scene. Let's just call it – highly emotional, cutting edge, polarising and questioning – punk. Ok.

Bass and drums and nothing more. Minimal, simple, forceful. Yet leaving room for ideas and all kinds of moods. Hard, straight forward and aggressive, mellow, dark and brooding, upbeat, groovy and danceable. It's all there.

DEAD KITTENS have grown, their new long player as well: It's deeper, more mature and contrasty. Something also visible in the artwork, featuring a range of collage pieces by artist Niels Kalk.

A timeless and genre-free piece of music that will challenge you 'til the last note – just as much as it will make you turn up the volume, move, dance and simply have fun!
